ICT-AGRI Calls

Transnational calls - a vital instrument for ICT-AGRI

Calls for transnational research, development and innovation projects was a vital instrument for ICT-AGRI. These calls were funded by ICT-AGRI partners and associated national funding agencies, who added funding to a so-called virtual common pot, this meant that funding was restricted to consortium partners from the same country as the country of funding agency. Consortium partners from any other countries, who payed their participation with own funding, were always very welcome.

Here you find a compilation of projects that have been funded by the ICT-AGRI ERA-NET.

2018 - Joint call on novel technologies, solutions and systems to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions of animal production systems

The overall objective of the 2018 Joint Call of the ERA-NETs FACCE ERA-GAS, SusAn and ICT-AGRI2 was to contribute to the development of novel technologies, solutions and systems to reduce the GHG intensity of animal production systems in Europe and beyond. This funding initiative calls for applied research. The projects’ potential impact should be relevant for the mitigation of GHG emissions within 5 - 10 years.

8 Research projects funded

2017 - Farm Management Systems for Precision Farming

The overall objective of the ICT-AGRI Call 2017 was to contribute to the development of an eco-efficient, resource-efficient and competitive agriculture through an enhanced and improved use of ICT and robotics. Precision Farming involved a number of digital technologies, including the Internet of Things and automated agricultural machinery, and was recognised having significant potential for the sustainable intensification of primary food production.

Thirteen proposals were submitted to the call and reviewed by the funding agencies and by independent experts. Six projects have been selected for funding.

2016 - Farm Management Systems

The focus of the 2016 call was on adaptable and compatible Smart Applications for farmers and on the implementation of Smart Applications in Farm Management Systems. The call was implemented as ICT-AGRI Partnerships. An ICT-AGRI Partnership is a collaboration between a number of national/regional projects. Each national/regional project has its own objectives and budget as agreed with the funding agency. The objective for the ICT-AGRI Partnership concerns the common goals as agreed between the national/regional partner projects.

No project have been funded in this call.

2015 - Enabling Precision Farming

Precision Farming is a key element in sustainable intensification, i.e. increasing food production with smaller environmental footprints. Although Precision Farming has been studied and developed for more than two decades, adoption of the technology in primary agriculture is still behind expectations. There are, therefore, needs for research, development and innovation concerning the adoption of Precision Farming in primary agriculture.

Eight projects are funded in this call

2014 - Services & Applications for Smart Agriculture

The call is in collaboration with the Future Internet Accelerator project SmartAgrifood. The objective for SmartAgriFood is to accelerate the use of FIWARE internet technologies for smart services and applications, while the purpose of the ICT-AGRI engagement is to contribute with agricultural knowlegde and experience.

Fifty projects were funded in this call, of which nine projects were cofunded by ICT-AGRI.

2012 - ICT and Automation for a Greener Agriculture

The call aimed at utilizing ICT and automation in primary agriculture for sustainable use of natural resources, reduction of agriculture’s environmental footprint, mitigation of climate change while securing farm economy and good working conditions, food supply, quality and security, and animal welfare.

Eight projects were funded in this call.

2010 - Integrated ICT and automation for sustainable agricultural production

The aim of this joint call was to enable joint transnational research projects based on complementarities and sharing of expertise within ICT and Robotics in Agriculture. Projects were expected to apply a systems approach addressing farm level integration of information technology, communication technology, automation and robotics. Projects had to have a clear European added value by being carried out on a transnational level.

Seven projects were funded in this call.
