Turf Europe is a Spinoff of the University of Pisa (University of Pisa owns 10% of the Company) and specializes in general Precision Farming and supplies highly specialized consultancy and research and development for companies involved in the green area industry. Our work is based on the solid scientific background gained by our staff through years of study and research in the Department of Agriculture, Food and Environment of the University of Pisa. We provide Consultancy and Research & Development in all areas of (1) urban green areas (sports, ornamental, environmental), (2) sod farming and (3) precision farming. Our work involves also field test validation of private company’s products which are willing to be accredited by specialized centres.
The goal of the services and activities of Turf Europe is the obtainment of high-quality, environmentally sustainable and economically viable urban green areas and crops. We also have extensive experience in sod farming at the European level. Our Precision Farming experience has been accumulated through Precision Farming-related EU Projects and through day-to-day consulting activities in sod farms and amenity areas.
Since 2018 Turf Europe has started the production and sales of our portable, autonomous and geolocalized weather station (Green-GO, www.greengosystem.com) for full acquisition and remote monitoring of agroclimatic data in farms and amenity areas.
Our weather stations are currently being used by satisfied customers all over Europe, with data visible on their PC/Tablet/smartphone.
Our innovative cloud-based logging and monitoring software can be acquired online and is proving invaluable in the management of urban green areas.
Research Activities:
Turf Europe staff holds a number of scientific publications within the field of turfgrass science, mostly in indexed ones (more than 20). Their current research tasks includes field calibration and validation of spectrophotometric data from satellite imagery for assessing turf grass water and nutrient status, greenhouse and lab tests to evaluate the efficacy of a traumatic acid-based compound in minimizing the effects of wear on turf grass and field testing of a mobile device that assesses turf grass water and nutrient status and soil hardness on golf courses, among others.
