Project information
The development of an app and hosting platform for sensor data that can be used for monitoring and predictive modelling of grassland conditions. This app will help solve a problem of using models that are based on data from geographical dispersed weather stations, such as those managed by Met Eirans in Ireland where there are only 25 of them. The app will allow farmers to quickly and easily deploy cheap sensors on their farms that will provide hourly data on temperature, humidity and barometric pressure initially - but which will be expanded in the future to provide rainfall, soil moisture and soil temperature. By increasing the accuracy of data, farmers will be able to get better predictions on grassland condition which is vital for planning grazing, trafficability of livestock and machinery and fertilisation schedules.
