VIVES is an university of applied science and member of the association of K.U. Leuven. The department of Agro - & Biotechnology with the Biolab, is situated at the campus in Roeselare. Besides the research group of animal science and agriculture (e.g. insects specific), the department has also a research group focust on food, on greenmanagement and biotech. The past research projects on the automatisation of insect production, the research group on insects collaborated with the department of Industrial Science and Technology at the campus of Kortrijk . These are a good example of the synergic collaboration between severall departments.
