Expertise My research has focused on sustainable farming systems. I have expertise in carrying out research experiments and developing novel monitoring devices. My work has involved practical and theoretical research on ruminant and monogastric systems. Areas of work include greenhouse gas emissions, climate impacts, breeding, nutrition, health and welfare. Career 2014 - present Senior Scientific Officer in Sustainable Dairy Systems, AFBI Hillsborough 2012 - 2013 Research Fellow: ruminant nutrition, The University of Nottingham 2010 - 2012 Postdoctoral fellow: farm systems modelling, The University of Melbourne 2002 - 2007 Research technician/assistant, SAC Edinburgh Research Interests/Activities Reducing the environmental footprint of livestock systems, through improved breeding, feeding and management Whole farm models Variation in feed efficiency and enteric methane among ruminant livestock Developing a novel method for measuring enteric methane from ruminant livestock Developing monitoring devices for farming Genetic selection indices for livestock Improving welfare of livestock through improved health and fertility Selected Publications Cullen, B.R., Rawnsley, R.P., Eckard R.J., Christie K.M. and Bell M.J.
