Osman KUCUK is a professor of animal nutrition at the Erciyes University, School of Veterinary Medicine, Kayseri-TURKEY. After graduating veterinary medical school in İstanbul, he went to USA for graduate studies with a rewarded scholarship in 1993. Working on ruminant nutrition, Dr. KUCUK earned an MS and PhD degrees at the University of Wyoming, Animal and Veterinary Science Department. After spending about 8 years in USA, he returned to his country, Turkey in 2000 to teach and conduct research. Besides being a scientist, Dr. KUCUK also served as vice dean of the veterinary school, as the manager of domestic animal farm, and manager of experimental research center as well as various other administrative duties. Osman KUCUK’s research interests are mainly focused on the recent developments of safe feed-food chain along with the environment with the relevancy of metabolic and genetic aspects of animal nutrition, environment, ethics, and contemporary issues. He is working on feeding of cattle (beef and dairy), racehorse nutrition, pet food industry consultancy, poultry management and other specific domestic animal nutrition areas. Dr. KUCUK is aware of the importance information and communication technology (ICT) in agriculture, focusing on the enhancement of agricultural and rural development through improved information and communication processes. He is an only-writer of 7 animal nutrition books in Turkish and about 70 peer-viewed international papers.
