Professor of Computer Engineering at the University of Parma since 2000. Member of the University Center for Energy and Environment (CIDEA). Director of the PhD School in Engineering and Architecture since 2014. Representative of the University of Parma in the Scientific Committee of the Digital Agenda of Regione Emilia-Romagna during legislation 2011-2015. Member of the technical committees of the regional public-private partnerships on Mechatronics (Cluster MECH), coordinating the value chain on Automation and Robotics, and Agriculture (Cluster AGRO). Founder and Director of the Laboratory for Robotics and Intelligent Machines at the University of Parma since 1992. Researcher and WP leader within POR-FESR project ALADIN (2016-2018) coordinated by CIDEA and aiming at optimized irrigation for open field crops based on a variety of sensors, including multispectral cameras carried by UAVs as well as gas and radiation sensors. Since April 2019 coordinator of POR-FESR project POSITIVE (to be completed in summer 2021) aiming at investigating the potential of satellite-based imagery for precision irrigation and fertigation.
