Dr. Felix Adrion studied Agricultural Sciences with a major in Agricultural Engineering (BSc. and MSc.) at University of Hohenheim, Stuttgart, Germany. He completed his PhD in 2017 at the Department of Livestock Systems Engineering within the Institute of Agricultural Engineering at University of Hohenheim with the topic "Adaption and assessment of a UHF-RFID system for livestock management". After a 3-month research visit at the USDA-ARS Meat Animal Research Center in Nebraska, USA, in 2017, supported by a DAAD short term postdoc grant, he continued research and teaching at the Department of Livestock Systems Engineering at University of Hohenheim. The major topics of his work were behaviour measurements in pigs and Precision Livestock Farming applications in pigs and cattle. His teaching duties were in the fields of milking technology, barn construction and ventilation as well as Precision Livestock Farming. Since 2018 Felix Adrion is employed as a Principal Investigator at Agroscope, the Swiss centre of excellence for agricultural research. His research now is both in milking technology and smart dairy farming with the aim of combining these two areas to ensure animal friendly, economically and environmentally sustainable milk production.
