Dr. Peter Offermans obtained his PhD in Applied Physics at the Technical University of Eindhoven in 2005 on cross-sectional scanning tunneling microscopy of III–V semiconductor nanostructures. After that he joined the newly established Holst Centre/imec Netherlands where he worked on novel nanostructure based gas and liquid sensors for application in ultra-low-power wireless sensing networks. In 2016 he co-initiated a THz imaging program for imec Florida and focused on the development of silicon-integrated photomixers for THz generation and detection. Since 2019 he is involved in the startup of Oneplanet research center and aims at bridging the gap between novel sensor technology and application in the agri/food and health domain.
