ASCAMM is part of the TECNIO innovation network promoted by ACC1Ó, the innovation agency of the Generalitat of Catalonia and it is registered as a Technological and Innovation Support Centre by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation.

ASCAMM's mission is to generate value in our environment through applied R+D, innovation and intensive knowledge services orientated towards improvements in competitiveness and business efficiency in widely differing sectors, such as transport (automation, including electrical, railway and aeronautics mobility), health (medical instrumentation, equipment and TIC applications), robotics, construction, industrial equipment and energy, electrical appliances and consumer electronics, packaging, together with plastic and metal transformation.

The two basic objectives deriving from this mission are:

- To generate first level technological knowledge in the production technologies areas.

- To transfer this knowledge to our industrial environment in an efficient manner and facilitate its operation by the industrial fabric.

The operations required to attain the first objective are all those relating to our own R+D, occasionally carried out individually, but mainly in conjunction with other research and technological centres and companies etc. Over 200 companies are involved in more than 70 R+D+i partnership projects lead or participated by ASCAMM annually.

Ascamm has produced:

- 25 industrial application patents

- 5 technologically-based companies

Knowledge transfer takes place through our following activities, among others:

- R+D under contract

- Technological services: trials, virtual laboratory, technical assistance, prototyping etc.

- Industrial evaluation and organisation

- Support to the creation of technologically-based companies

- Training: at Ascamm, in-company and on-line
