Istituto Superiore Mario Boella

Istituto Superiore Mario Boella

Organisation type:
Research organisations
Country:
Italy
Description:

Expertise: Competences in our labs cover some of the major issues of ICT and wireless technologies.
- Antenna design: competences on propagation, simulation and antenna design for special applications, frequently encountered in the general framework of the Internet of Things / ambient intelligence.
- Embedded Systems and Electronics design: ambient intelligence and environmental monitoring often require the availability of small, low power, sensing and communicating devices. The suitable HW is often available, but in other cases you need to design special purpose devices. We offer competences in embedded systems design, SW and FW design for special applications (on board units, woreless sensors and actuators, human-machine interfaces)
- Cloud Computing and modern architectures: the availability of a high number of sensing devices disseminated in the environment requires the appropriate mechanisms to collect the information, process it and present the data in a synthetic form so to contribute to decision support in an effective way. Applications of modern ICT in fields such as energy, agriculture and environment require this kind of capabilities.
- Wireless Broadband Networking design

Facility: 8 research laboratories focused on ICT and Wireless Technologies (short range and long range).
Hosted within the campus of Politecnico di Torino, in an area of 4000 sqm hosting the labs.
Total of around 90 researchers, working in cooperation with as many colleagues from Politecnico in the 8 joint labs.
Cooperation with/Access to the departments of Politecnico di Torino

Priority: Wireless Tehnologies, Embedded Systems, Environmental Monitoring, Electronic systems design, Wireless Sensor Networks, Antenna Design, Data Management, Human-Machine Interfaces, Satellite Positioning and Navigation, Optoelectronics Systems and Components
