OPTIMIR - New tools for a more sustainable dairy sector

Project information
New tools for a more sustainable dairy sector. Innovation on Milk Recording New Management Indicators Decision Making and Profitability The project develops a European network of Milk Recording Organizations (MROs) and Research Institutions. MROs collect milk samples up to once a month from each cow . Spectral data are generated for each analysed sample. Through OptiMIR the spectral data are polled into a common transnational database. One spectrum can provide information about the cow like its pregnancy, feeding, energy balance, metabolic diseases, methane emissions, energy balance, mastitis, etc. The Research Institutions use the transnational database to develop bio-models. MROs implement the algorithms on their data-processing systems to provide dairy farmers with new web-based decision making tools. Herd information are automatically uploaded in the web-account of milk producers providing them with management solutions to sustain their business.
