Description:

The inter-branch organization of the Gran Suino Italiano represents 36,64%, according to the latest figure of total leaders surveyed 31.12.2017 from pig Banca Dati Nazionale Suinicola for Emilia Romagna, for a total of 1.075.323 pigs approximately at the end of the market cycle.
The idea stems from the desire of some economic groups to consolidate relations accrued within a supply chain project promoted by the Region of Emilia Romagna. The aim of the project is to unite the various sectors of the supply chain to promote the growth of the single reality, through innovation, quality and sustainability.
We are now involved in two important European Project in swine sector:

a) Feed a Gene: The project aims to better adapt different components of monogastric livestock production systems (i.e., pigs, poultry and rabbits) to improve the overall efficiency and to reduce the environmental impact. This involves the development of new and alternative feed resources and feed technologies, the identification and selection of robust animals that are better adapted to fluctuating conditions, and the development of feeding techniques that allow optimizing the potential of the feed and the animal.
b) Eupig: This is a network of 19 partner organisations from 13 member states. Led by the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB) in the UK, the network includes a range of partners from pig producer groups to researchers and economic advisers – connecting pig producers with the latest science, husbandry techniques and technologies. EU PiG aims to raise the competitiveness of the European pig industry by linking producers and sharing tried and tested best practice and innovations.
