Halmstad University (HU) was established 1982. Today HU has 11 155 students, 55 professors and 88 research students. HU conducts education and research within two profile areas, Health Innovation and Smart Cities and Communities, with a basis in three prominent doctoral education areas: Information Technology, Innovation Sciences, and Health and Lifestyle.

HU and specifically the Centre of Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Learning (CIEL) with more than 60 researchers, will address the challenges pinpointed in the call. CIEL’s main purpose is to develop research, knowledge and expertise within innovation, business enterprise and regional learning from a multi-disciplinary perspective. Research into small and medium-sized companies’ business activities focuses on innovation and product development work, strategy and management, business enterprise, marketing, financing and internationalisation. Within regional development, research is carried out into organisation, management, learning and equal opportunities in regional developmental initiatives.
