The University of Teramo (UNITE), funded in 1993, is a new university in the Italian and international landscape of the Higher Education institutions whose activities are focused on education & training, research and societal engagement developed in two main areas, the former related to Biosciences (i.e. biotechnology, agriculture and food, veterinary medicine) the latter on Humanities (Communication Science, Cultural Heritage, Arts Music & Drama, Political Sciences, Law).
The University of Teramo is a public Higher Institution born in 1993 with 5 Faculties in the humanities and scientific domains committed in both education and research. The Faculty of Bioscience and Technology for Food, Agriculture and Environment of the University of Teramo (UNITE) encompasses degree programmes related to the agro-food area: Food Science and Technology (1st and 2nd level Degree-International), Oenology and Viticulture and Biotechnology (1st level) and Advanced Biotechnologies (2nd level). UNITE develops training initiatives in a Lifelong learning perspective and post-graduated master courses (e.g. Valorisation of the Protected geographical areas and Agro-food quality, Wine business). UNITE hosts the Ph.D. degree programme on Food Science.
Research activities are carried out on various aspects of agro-food systems in 10 Research Units and well equipped laboratories (Food Technology; Chemical Methodologies and Food Analysis; Agricultural economics; Food and environmental microbiology, Agronomy and Crop Sciences; Energy and Environment; Biochemistry) supported and sponsored by projects funded by national and international, public and private entities including food industries.
UNITE promotes transnational mobility of students, researchers and teachers through both ERASMUS+ projects and other international frameworks; it is involved in other collaborative and cooperation programmes with no-EU countries.
UNITE was/is involved in several EU projects within the 7th FP under IDEAS, COOPERATION, PEOPLE, Marie-Curie programmes.
