The National Centre for Biodivertsity and Gene Conservation was established by the Minister of Agriculture on June 1, 2019 by integrating the Research Centre for Farm Animal Gene Conservation into the Centre for Plant Diversity.
The new institution will function as Hungary's largest and central gene bank. Provides relevant research, development and innovation as well as rural development, education and awareness raising activities related to its gene bank collections.
Department for Apiculture and Bee Biology deals with the research of apicultural products (uni-, multifloral honeys, waxs, pollens). During investigations are performed organoleptic analysis, determination of differents physical-chemical parameters and melissopalynological analysis.
Research, development and innovation activities related to Pannon bee breeding, gene preservation, gene bank activities, bee biology, honey production and apicultural productsare are carried out in the institute.
