Boğaziçi University (BU) is a leading state university in Turkey; with a 156 year history; and a strong tradition of international collaborations. BU has 437 full-time faculty members, 82 instructors, 88 foreign lecturers, 266 research assistants and 891 administrative personnel. In 2017/18 academic years, 12351 students enrolled in undergraduate and 4986 students enrolled in graduate programs as well as more than 300 agreements made with the world universities, approximately 170 foreign students from 42 countries.

The university attracts research funding from both national and international research funding organizations as well as from industry. BU has participated in over 50 FP7 projects, bringing in more than 10 million Euros in research income.The university is currently involved in over 100 national and 60 international projects.

Bogazici University belongs to a series of international university networks that share the same goal of enhancing academic cooperation among their members. These are The International Association of Universities; Magna Charta Universitatum; European University Association; Mediterranean Universities Union; Black Sea Universities Network; European Society for Engineering Education and The Utrecht Network.

Boğaziçi University encourages the research life in all current and prioritized topics related to all academic fields in a multi- and inter-disciplinary manner, in cooperation with diverse sectors and international actors, placing a high emphasis on social and basic sciences.
