Konya Technical University was established as a new university with Additional Article-179, which was added to the law numbered 2809 with the seventh article of the law numbered 7141, which was published in the Official Gazette dated 18.05.2018 and numbered 30425. According to the founding law; Konya Technical University is composed of the "Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences", connected to Konya Technical University by changing the name and connection of the Faculty of Engineering while affiliated to Selçuk University, the "Faculty of Architecture and Design" connected to Konya Technical University by changing the name and connection of the Faculty of Architecture while affiliated to Selçuk University,the newly established "Faculty of Business and Management Sciences" and the "Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Technologies" under the Rectorate, the newly established "Graduate School" under the Rectorate. The foundation of the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences and the Faculties of Architecture and Design, which constitute the main backbone of Konya Technical University, dates back to 1970. The Department of Architecture , The Department of Civil Engineering, The Department of Mechanical Engineering and The Department of Map Engineering, which are the basic departments of these faculties, were opened as Engineering and Architecture School under the Ministry of National Education in 1970-1971 academic year. It was named as Konya State Engineering Architecture Academy in 1971. In 1982- 1983 academic year, it was transformed into a faculty and connected to Selçuk University as the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture with the decree numbered 41. In 2012, the decisions that the name of the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture under the Selcuk University Rectorate was changed to Faculty of Engineering and that the Faculty of Architecture was established under the Selcuk University Rectorate were taken by the Council of Ministers on 20/9/2012 upon the letter of the Ministry of National Education dated 7/9/2012 and numbered 22448, according to the Additional Article-30 of the Law No. 2809.
