The aim of CropWatch is to develop a functional demonstrator of an information system for monitoring and analysis of plant production process. It basically consists of a server-based data management system with integrated facilities for receiving, storing, processing and analysis of data of different origins from the plant production process.

Recent methods - with laboratory analyses of soil samples - do not offer options for online verification of the measured results and require transporting of soil.

This project is funded by the innovation program of the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL), funding agency is the Federal Office for Agriculture and Food (BLE) . The goal of the project is to develop a prototypical infrastructure of complementary services to predictively support agricultural processes exemplified by the harvest of silage maize. Already available but currently not used data will be unlocked and provided via interoperable services. This data originates from farm management systems, the machines themselves, public (Geo-) Information Infrastructures (e.g.
Contact project
Development of a cluster to provide recent remote sensing products for agriculture Remote sensing data provide information on the current status and the biophysical properties of agricultural land, which are an important tool for practical agriculture. The EU Copernicus program will provide a new fleet of Earth observation satellites that provide operational satellite data in unprecedented quantity, temporal resolution and technical excellence.
Contact project
This project aims at creating a novel decision support system to manage crops, which takes into account the needs of the plants and the environmental conditions. The system captures relevant data by means of wireless sensors and manages this data in an integrated cloud solution which includes self-learning algorithms. The project aims at building on Swiss agronomic excellence, namely in fruit orchard management, Agri-ICT and crop modelling and leveraging the existing pest forecast system SOPRA.
