Johannes Charlier (°1978, male) graduated in 2002 as veterinarian. In 2007, he obtained a PhD in veterinary sciences with the topic “Use of anti-Ostertagia ostertagi bulk tank milk antibodies to study the epidemiology of gastrointestinal nematodes in dairy cattle” and became an EBVS® accredited European Veterinary Specialist in Parasitology. From 2007 to 2015, he worked as a senior researcher at Ghent university, specialising in the diagnosis, control and economic impact of helminth infections of cattle. During this period, he supervised a small research team (PhD students, lab technicians) of 3-4 people, published 70 A1-papers in top-ranked journals in the disciplines of parasitology, veterinary and agricultural sciences, was invited speaker at 20 (inter)national conferences or workshops and received 2 international and 1 national scientific award for his research. From 2015 to 2017, Johannes worked as CTO at Avia-GIS where he contributed to the development of spatial animal health information systems. In 2017, he founded Kreavet with the aim to enhance the uptake of scientific insights by animal health decision makers (farmers, vets, industry, governments) and assess a business case around sustainable animal health management.
