Professor Lynn J. Frewer - short CV. Current Research Interests Understanding and measuring societal and individual responses to risks and benefits associated with food, health, sustainability and safety, and linking this to governance practices associated with Risk Analysis. Developing and testing risk (benefit) communication strategies and other public health interventions related to food consumption , and policy translation of scientific results Developing qualitative and quantitative methodologies to understand attitudes and behaviors related to food risks and other food related behaviours. Stakeholder analysis and operationalising scientific foresight regarding research agenda setting, policy and governance in the area of emerging food technologies, and food and agricultural risks. Adapting and applying systematic literature review methodologies the area of consumers and food choice. Developing new approaches to assessing social-economic impacts of food risks and other food issues. Grants awarded I have had extensive involvement in transdisciplinary agrifood projects, (having been involved in more than 50 externally funded projects primarily in the area of social science and the (agri) food sector, and have been PI or CI in many of these. Projects currently funed SUPERG (Policy and permanent grassland, H2020) and Sweet (Artificial sweeteners, H2020), Demeter (Emerging Risk Identification, EFSA), DRIER (Drought identification in China, RCUK NERC) Prohealth (Diseases in animal production systems and societal attitudes, H2020), Food Integrity (Food fraud and authenticityH2020), PAFIC (Adoption of sensor technology in Chinese Agriculture, RCUK STFC Newton), INEXTVIR (Mari-Curie , focused on the Virome), RedApple (BBSRC-NEton) Animal genomics (stakeholder attitudes, 2 projects funded by genome Canada), and the ESRC seminar series on sustainable and healthy foods, just completed). Recent examples include Pegasus (GM animals and Society), Safefoods (Risk Analysis and risk communication associated with Food Consumer Behaviour), Europrevall (theme leader, socio-economic issues), Qualibra (Risk-benefit analysis and food), Go-global (Emerging risk identification), INNOVA (Pharmaceutical policy and intergovernmental institutional funding) and BROWSE (pesticides and the sustainable Use directive). In addition, I have been PI for funding from, inter alia, the DUTCH NWO and VWA, UK DEFRA and industry bodies such as the Mobile phone industry board, SUSCHEM.
