I hold a Diploma in Electronics and Computer Engineering from the Technical University of Crete, Greece, a master’s degree in Computational Science from the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece and a PhD from the Department of Digital Systems, University of Piraeus, Greece. I have 20-year professional experience in the conception, coordination and implementation of more than twenty-five (25) R&D Projects funded by the European Commission. My main scientific interests are in the areas of Open Innovation, Digital Transformation, Open Science, Open Data and Big Data. I am the co-author of more than 100 publications in scientific books, journals and conferences with more than 930 known citations (h-index: 16), as listed in Google Scholar and I have received 5 times Best Research Paper Awards for his research in International Conferences (July 2014, July 2011, November 2010, July 2009 and July 2007). I have also served as co-chair of the Working Group on Agrisemantics of the Research Data Alliance (RDA).
