Prof. Levent Trabzon is faculty member at Mechanical Engineering Department at Istanbul Technical Univeristy, ITU. He completed B.Sc. degree in Mechanical Engineering Department at Bogazici University and then M.Sc. degree in Materials Science and Engineering Department at Carnegie-Mellon University and Ph.D. degree in Engineering Science Department at The Pennsylvania State Universitty. He is the director of MEMS Research Center and ITUnano Nanotechnology Research Center. He has a broad research experiences on the nano-materials enhanced fabrication, micro and nano fabrication techniques as well as microfluidics. he has been also involved microfabrication techniques to develop several different types of MEMS structures. Specifically, PDMS based microfluidics systems has been studied in order to microparticle separation. Microparticle and cells separation or/and enhancement have been successfully accomplished by means of dielectrophoresis and inertial mehanisms. Moreover, we have also developed palm-sized peristaltic micropump to be used Lab-on-a-chip systems, thus stand-alone particle separation systems have been developed. He has published more than 90 research articles in journals and conference proceedings with six patent applications. He was also recipient of Technology Award from Elginkan Foundation in 2012.
