I am a horticulturist and a science writer with a PhD in communicating knowledge of plant genetic resources to the public.
I have been working with this topic for more than 15 years in theory and practice – in a scientific-, a museum- as well as an NGO-setting. It is still taking up the majority of my time and mind to involve gardeners, farmers, chefs, museums, and consumers in the conservation and use of our heritage plants.
To be able to succeed in this we need a multi-actor approach across sectors and national borders. Collaboration makes it possible for us to cover a large piece of land, take hand of many varieties, and reach many people interested in knowing, growing, eating, and conserving the plants.
Besides this I have a very strong experience writing about scientific subjects in my field for the general public (newspapers, magazines, webpages).
I have been teaching science communication at University of Copenhagen on bachelor, master, and PhD-courses, and I am working here as a guest researcher.
