I am an assistant professor at Ghent University specialising in drone remote sensing applications in natural and agricultural systems and I am co-leading the UGent UAV Research Centre. Our research focuses on i) advanced processing of drone data, e.g. by exploring multi-angular information; ii) exploring innovative new sensors for drone research, e.g. using passive fluorescence or GPR iii) integration of drone technology in precision agriculture systems. We have state-of-the-art drone facilities (drones, sensors, processing equipment) and have ample experience with preparing, executing and analysing drone data in (precision) agriculture systems, with international expertise in thermal remote sensing, hyperspectral scanning and fusion of thermal and multispectral data. In precision agriculture, we have worked on topics as detection (and quantification) of drought stress, diseases and weeds. We want to contribute our drone knowledge and expertise to a strong consortium working on ICT applications in the context of precision agriculture.
