Dr. Getachew Abate Kassa is a researcher at the Chair, Agricultural Production and Resource Economics, Technical University of Munich. His expertise includes entrepreneurship; agriculture-nutrition linkage; regional economic development; value chain; and sustainable food systems. He applies both quantitative and qualitative research methods. He recently coordinated a project that focused on ICT application in nutrition intervention. He worked on e-commerce and internet use in small businesses. He was one of the founders of a state-wide Marketmaker program for the agri-food sector in Michigan, USA. He was also co-lead on an action research (a learning lab approach) that focused on the establishment of regional food systems. He provided professional services for agri-food businesses that commercialize high value, consumer-responsive products.
