Precision Livestock Farming within the Animal Science Group is coordinated and stimulated by Dr. ir. Kees Lokhorst. He is involved in several national and international research programs concerning transition processes in animal farming systems. Research is focused on the possibilities of ICT en sensor information to support farmers in their daily management. Developing, testing, implementation and economic consequences of knowledge intensive systems was studied in various application areas and farming systems. He actively contributed to the organization of national and international conferences, and was responsible for the organization of the European Conference for Precision Livestock Farming (www.jiac2009.nl) in 2009. Career, experience More than twentyfive years of experience as researcher in the field of decision support, technology assessment, precision farming and precision livestock farming in different farming systems (poultry, pigs, dairy, arable farming). More than 10 years of management experience with different research programs, project and research groups. SInce summer 2014 also active as professor uas on the topic 'Herd Management and Smart Dairy Farming' at Van Hall University of Applied Science.
