Helen Miliou (HM) is a Professor at the Department of Animal Science and Aquaculture of Agricultural University of Athens (AUA) and is the Director of the Laboratory of Applied Hydrobiology. She holds a BSc in Biological Sciences from the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics of the University of Patras (1981), an MSc in Oceanography from the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (1984) and a PhD in Hydrobiology – Aquaculture from the Department of Biology, Faculty of Physics and Mathematics of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (1990). She has a background on Hydrobiology and Aquaculture and expertise on: a) growth performance, biometry, metabolism, haematology, population dynamics, stress responses, proximate and fatty acid composition of aquatic animals, b) sustainable aquaculture, c) quality improvement of aquatic products, d) welfare of cultured aquatic organisms, e) nutrient and energy flow, f) Integrated Multi-trophic Aquaculture g) Fish nutritional requirements. Prof. Miliou has published 46 scientific papers in international peer-reviewed scientific journals and 52 presentations in peer-reviewed Conferences. She is an experienced Scientific Supervisor / Coordinator of several EU and national projects.
