Priority: Field based research in crops (cereals, oilseed rape, forage maize) with emphasis on nutrition and nutrient use efficiency. Current work focuses on optimising N nutrition of spring barley and winter wheat with an interest in using sensors to estimate crop requirement and predict crop quality (protein content). Work is beginning on determining soil N release where temperature and moisture sensors could be important.
