Expertise: HAUC is the premier UK Higher Education institution focused on the land-based and food supply-chain sectors. Our particular research focus is mechatronics, robotics, vehicle dynamics and livestock and crop precision agriculture. Clients include CLASS, AGCO, JCB and a wide range of other agricultural technology providers. We are in a unique position to be able to closely work with our animal and crop production departments as well as commercial farms to validate and find greater range applications for technologies. Prof. Simon Blackmore is a key figure in the development of Precision Farming and Phytotechnology with a world-wide reputation. He has led the EU-funded Future Farm Project. Prof. Anthony Furness is a specialist in AIDC technologies in general and in particular, radio frequency identification (RFID) and natural feature identification and has over twenty years experience in the AIDC technologies. Dr Tomas Norton has research interests in Precision Livestock Farming and livestock buildings Dr. Gerasimos Rigatos research interests include the areas of robotics and control, computational intelligence and adaptive systems, optimization and fault diagnosis. Facility: Mechatronics/Robotics laboratory, soil and water research units, controlled traffic farming research unit, commercial farming systems Priority: -Design/development of smart machines for agriculture -Development of agricultural robotics, -Development of precision farming tools and methodologies -Integration of principles of the emerging Internet of Things into agriculture
