He has received his Diploma in Chemical Engineering in 1991 and his Ph.D. in 2000 from the National Technical University of Athens. Senior researcher and laboratory teaching staff in the Environmental and Energy Management Research Unit of the School of Chemical Engineering of National Technical University of Athens. From 2018 he is a member of the academic community of the Technical University of Crete, teaching Heat Transfer, Fluid Mechanics and Rational Energy Management Systems. His research interests focus on the Process, System and Service Engineering (process modelling and simulation; analysis, design, simulation and optimisation; business process management and integration; event-driven and context-aware business processes; Cyber Physical Systems in industry, buildings & agriculture), Energy Systems Management (energy conservation, energy harvesting, waste heat recovery, renewable energy sources, hybrid power systems, assessment of energy management policies and measures), Environmental Systems Management and Protection (natural resources management, air pollution control, tools for environmental performance assessment), Water Resources Management (eco-efficiency assessment of water value chains, demand management and forecasting, natural and engineered water treatment system design, water production through desalination), Geographical Information Systems and E-learning Technologies. He has participated in more than 20 research projects at both European and National level as a principal investigator and senior researcher. He is the author of 5 academic books and of more than 60 scientific publications.
