Dr. Daniele Massa (DM) has got a MSc in Agricultural Science and Technology (December 2003) and PhD in Horticulture (April 2008) at the University of Tuscia (Italy) with specialization in crop modelling and nutrition at the University of California Davis. DM is permanent researcher at the Council for Agricultural Research and Economics (CREA) from 2013. Before the current position DM has got a position as researcher at the University of Sassari (Italy), a two-year postdoc fellowship for the international European project EUPHOROS at the University of Pisa (Italy), and a two year postdoc fellowship at Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna (Pisa, Italy). DM carries out research activity on plant modelling, crop abiotic stress, crop fertilization and irrigation management, nitrogen leaching, protected cultivation, hydroponics, and plant physiology with special attention to vegetable and ornamental species. DM has been awarded as young researcher by national (Italian Horticultural Society) and international (MELCOPTOR) associations for his studies on plant nutrition and irrigation. In the last ten years, DM took part to roughly 15 international and national scientific projects, as coordinator of project/research unit or participant, focusing on crop nutrient and irrigation management, agriculture sustainability, crop physiology and quality. DM is external professor for the universitary courses of "vegetable crops" and "precision farming in vegetable crops" at the University of Salerno (Italy) and holds seminars and lectures for Universities and for Regional Institutions in Italy on plant nutrition and cultivation of horticultural species. He is member of the Executive Council of the Italian Society of Horticulture (SOI) and member of the International Society for Horticultural Science (ISHS).
