Souraya Benalia was born in El-Biar, Algiers, Algeria, on 04/07/1981. She graduated in Agricultural Sciences, option: Plant Production and Improvement at the National Institute of Agronomy of Algiers in 2005. She received a First Level Master degree in Technological Innovation and Sustainability of Mediterranean Olive growing from the University Mediterranea of Reggio Calabria in 2009 and a PhD in Rural Development, Sciences and Technologies of Agroforestry and Livestock Productions (SDS AGR/09) from the same university in 2013. She obtained a grant for 18 months in the framework of the National Operative Project PON01_01545 OLIOPIÙ: “Formazione di capitale umano altamente qualificato per lo sviluppo della filiera olearia esperto di tecnologie produttive, di tecniche analitiche e di sistemi di recupero e valorizzazione dei sottoprodotti”. She had one year postdoctoral grant from the University Mediterranea of Reggio Calabria during 2014/2015 to implement the results she obtained during the PhD course in a SME situated in Reggio Calabria. Since 2015, she is a post-doc research fellow (SDS AGR/09 agricultural mechanics), performing research activities related to : - Machine vision system use in post-harvest processing; - Recovery of agro-industrial by products for bioenergy production; - Quantitative and qualitative evaluation of sprayer performances; - Olive growing mechanization; - Safety in agricultural workplace. She is the author of more than 45 publications and communications in National and International journals and conferences.
